He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

This past Friday was Halloween, it used to be one of my favorite holidays. When I was young and in Catholic school we always had All Saint's Day, November 1, off from school. We could stay out as late as we liked but make sure you are off Jean Lane before dark. Aaahhh urban legends. In college I won the best costume award ($50, which we spent at the bar down the street on 10cent beers. Every girl who came in the bar the bouncers sent over to us and we bought them a beer or two) for my "ballerina" costume. I wore my high school wrestling tights with a big pink t0-t0. When Sean was in college I always looked forward to the photos from his party. A word of warning, don't go in the Jug dressed like an Indian. The kids always went trick or treating when they were way too old but hey it's all good fun. I would spend more time and money in Halloween decorations for the house than for Christmas. One year we turned the garage into a haunted house. We would have so many kids that we would go through five or six bags of candy. Now, living on the third floor of an apartment building, no decorations and no trick or treaters.

I did nothing for Halloween. Jack went out with some friends and Mike, Sean and Sara were at the same party in DC. I haven't heard from Sam.
The best part of Halloween is the costume. You need to put a lot of thought and work into
what you are going to wear or not. One year I
stopped at home depot on my way home from
work, picked up a tylar jumpsuit. I put paint
and sparkle on it, shaved, drew on mutton chops,
put on the sunglasses and went to the party
as Elvis. I always like to see a costume that
makes you think about what it is.
This year Sean and Sara took the idea
or their costume from the newspaper. You guessed it, Joba Chamberlain and the cop that arrested him for DUI.

Michael and Jack on the other hand went Hollywood. Michael designed his costume as Patrick Bateman character in the movie "American Psycho" . This is Mike looking as psychotic as he can

This is the real character from the movie. You might recognise him as Christian Bale who plays Bruce Wayne in "Batman Returns"and "The Dark Knight"
Jack went more indie film, portraying the lead character from the movie, "Charlie Bartlett"

Does anyone else think it's odd that my sons think wearing a suit coat is right for Halloween? If you haven't seen either movie I recommend that you go out and rent them, they are both very good.
UPDATE: I still haven't heard from Sam but she posted a few pictures from Halloween. As you can see she and some friends went out as "girls gone wild". It looks like a great costume and very disappointing to all the guys that were in that bar.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween and remember to start thinking now what you want to dress up as next year.
