Christmas Week

What's Christmas without music, although, a lot of people would like to do without "Grandma got run Over by a Reindeer". If you were going to put together a cd of Christmas music what would be on it. Think about it and submit your list in the comment section. Here's mine.

1. White Christmas Bing Crosby
Without question the number one song on any one's list. No one can or should sing this song like Bing.
2. The Christmas Song Nat King Cole
Again a song that should be on every one's list. Written by the Velvet Fog himself, Mel Torme but made famous by Nat King Cole.
now things start to blur, the next eight are in no particular order but are songs that I like.
3. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year Andy Williams
4. Linus and Lucy Vince Guaraldi Trio
Nothing puts you in the mood like this tune
5. Oh Holy Night Martina McBride
Unlike White Christmas and The Christmas Song, Oh Holy Night can be sung by many different artist. Right now I am enjoying Martina's version.
6. Frosty the Snowman Leon Redbone and Dr. John
You have to hear this version.
7. Baby it's Cold Outside James Taylor and Natilie Cole
Another song done by many, give a listen to Leon Redbone and Zooey Deschanel
8. Santa Claus is Coming to Town Bruce Springsteen
I can't make a cd without Springsteen
9. Holly Jolly Christmas Burl Ives
Sam the snowman from the classic Christmas special, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
10. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Gene Autry

I stopped at ten when there are so many others to choose from. Bob and Doug's Twelve Days, the Chipmunks. A great version of Ava Maria by.... wait for it....Michael Bolton. I'll be Home for Christmas, Elvis with Blue Christmas and of course the classic, Jingle Bell Rock.
So let's see your list.

I'm really glad you included #8... gotta have the Boss on there. I would also say that Bon Jovi is an essential part of every christmas album, so his version of "Please come home for christmas" is a good choice. TransSiberian Orchestra + Metallica's "Carol of the Bells" is pretty sweet as well. And how about something from Jimmy Buffett's xmas album, like "Ho Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum"

Thanks Jake, On my playlist for work is TransSiberian's Christmas Eve Sarajevo. I need to get a little Jimmy Buffett. One I didn't mention is Band Aid, Do They Know It's Christmas. I would love to see the vedio again to see how many people we don't remember.

I'd like to complain, on the strongest possible terms, about your so called Christas song list. You can forget about K-Tel producing that load of crap!
To begin with, If your going to use The Christmas Song by the Velvet Fog than use his version. That's like choosing Rod Stewert's version of Have I Told You Lately over Van Morrison's.
Secondly, Michael version of anything sounds like birdshit!
The Linus and Lucy theme goes with Halloween, what your looking for is Vince Guaraldi's Your In Love Charlie Brown.
I do like you choice of Frosty with Leon Redbone (outstanding performance in Elf as the updated Sam the Snowman) and Dr. John.
Anyway, here's my list:
Peace on Earth/The Little Drummer Boy-Bing Crosby & David Bowie, Santa Claus is coming to Town-Ray Charles, Mille Chervbini Chor, Ave maria-Andrea bocelli, Oh Holy Night, Edeste Fedalis-Luccani Pavaratti, The Rebel Jesus-The Chieeftains w/ Jackson Browne, Christmas Everyday-Sky Kings, Here Comes Santa Claus-Elvis, Let it Snow, You're a mean one Mr. Grinch-Brian Setzer, O Come Emanuel-John Berry, Mary Did You Know-Kenny Rodgers W/ Wynonna Judd, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem-Nat King Cole, Suddenly It's Christmas-Loudon Wainwright III,Song For a Winter's Night-Sarah McLachlan, and you can leave out Santa and his Old Lady-Cheech & Chong.
